Technology Standards
As technology grows in importance in our society and our schools it has
become clear that USD259 needs to identify what technology skills our teachers
and students need to succeed in the 21st Century. A committee, the Technology
Standards for Teachers and Students (TSTS), was created by the Instructional
Technology Department to evaluate and revise the district's technology standards. The
membership consists of teachers, administrators, technology professionals
and staff from across the district.
The committee recommended the adoption of the International Society of Technology
in Education (ISTE) performance indicators for teachers and students to
the Board of Education and the adoption of the standards was approved. The
committee has customized the performance indicators to meet the varied
needs of educators in our district. If you have any questions, please contact
the Instructional Technology Department.
To aid Wichita Public School's teachers in achieving the new standards, a professional development program called STEPs (Standards for Teachers through Educational Projects) was put into place.
Other curricular standards may be viewed at the Learning Services website.
