Technology Planning

Technology will continue to be an integral part of our lives. In order to prepare students to communicate, learn, and explore, we must educate them tocable usethe tools of technology in a proficient, effective, and ethical manner. The Wichita Public Schools District Technology Plan will create environments in which technologies are naturally integrated into teaching and learning, while sustaining the business functions essential for the management of this large urban school district.

Technology Plan Approved by Board of Education

The District Technology Plan was presented to the Board of Education on March 12, 2007. The Board unanimously approved the plan which was then submitted to the Kansas Department of Education for approval at the state level. Presuming it will be approved, the plan will go into effect July, 1 2007 for three years. A broad group of district employees, parents and community members contributed to the contents of the plan.

The District Superintendent hosts a monthly meeting with student representatives from the high schools called Super SAC to discuss a variety of topics. In an effort to expand and broaden the group of contributors, Super SAC will become a venue by which students from all the high schools will participate in conversations related to technology integration in the district several times each year.
