iPod Touch

Setting up your iPod Touch
STEP 1-
- Download iTunes [Click Here]
- Apple offers a 1 year warranty so please make sure you register your iPod as soon as you get it. This can be done after you download iTunes and plug your iPod in for the first time. If you do not have an Apple ID (account) you will need to create one in order to register your iPod.
STEP 2 -
- Prior to first use, charge your iPod Touch until it is fully charged
STEP 3 -
- Make sure your iPod Touch is running the most current operating system
- This can be done by plugging your iPod in and checking iTunes-
- In the left hand column of iTunes, look for Devices and locate your iPod
- At the top of the screen click on the Summary tab and the Check for Updates button
- This can be done by plugging your iPod in and checking iTunes-
STEP 4 - Connecting to the District's Network
- On your device's home screen, tap Settings
- Tap WiFi
- Confirm WiFI is on, if not touch On
- Under choose a network, tap Other
- Type WPS80211 in the name field - type WPS in all caps
- Tap Security and then tap WEP
- Enter the district's WEP key in the password field (You may need to contact your STS for this information)
STEP 5 - Setting Up the iPod Touch for District E-mail and Calendar
- Tap Settings
- Tap on Mail, Contacts and Calendars
- Tap Add Account
- Tap Microsoft Exchange
- Tap E-mail and type in your district e-mail address
- Tap Domain and enter usd259
- Tap Username and enter your district username
- Tap Password and enter your district password
- Tap Next and then Tap Server and type in webmail.usd259.net
- Tap Next and confirm that all of the blue slide buttons for mail, contact and calendar are set to On
- Tap on Done
COT (Classroom Observation Tool)
To access COT, you must be on the district's WIFI. Once on, click on Safari on you device and add the following
address to the address bar: cot.usd259.net If you would like to add this site as a button on your iPod's Home
Screen, do the following:
- While at the home page for COT click on the "+" at the bottom of the browser
- When the pop-up window appears, click on "Add to Home Screen"
- Another window will appear to let you name the button...type in COT and click on the add button
- A generic white button will appear on the iPod Home Screen. This button will launch COT in the future
Trouble Shooting Tips
- PROBLEM - iPod Touch will not connect to district's wireless
- SOLUTION - (Repeat STEPs 1 through 4) If this does not resolve this issue, remove any 3rd party applications that you may have downloaded to your iPod Touch
- PROBLEM - COT (Classroom Observation Tool) won't launch on iPhone or iPod Touch
- SOLUTION - Make sure the district WIFI is activated (STEP 4)
- PROBLEM - iPod is not working correctly (multiple issues including syncing
- SOLUTION - Plug in iPod and in iTunes go to Devices - the iPod listed - Summary tab - click on the Restore button
- PROBLEM - iPod Touch connects to network, but I am unable to receive mail, contacts or calendar updates
- SOLUTION - (Repeat STEP 5)
- PROBLEM - My computer does not see that my iPod is plugged in.
- SOLUTION - Plug your iPod into another USB port. If this does not work, have your STS try the following step [Click Here]
- PROBLEM - The iPod won't hold a charge or won't come on.
- SOLUTION - The iPod may need to be serviced, please contact Apple Tech Support at: iPod and Mac technical support: 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273)

These calls can be placed to anyone else who also has this free service on their computer or iPod. Skype also allows users to make phone calls to land lines as well with a small fee. |

Maps is a great tool that comes preloaded on your iPod Touch. It offers satellite maps and well as traditional maps. Users can get directions from start to end. |
