New SafeAssign (antiplagiarism tool) Tutorial
Blackboard™ is a course development tool used by many K-12 school districts and higher education institutions accross the country. Blackboard provides the safety of a closed environment coupled with a ease of use.
All staff and students of our district are allowed to use Blackboard™. Staff members may take on two roles in the Blackboard™ system, instructor and user. Instructors may manage courses and change user's passwords. Users may only participate in courses that they are enrolled in by instructors. Students may only assume the user role.
Blackboard has many uses beyond a course development tool such as:
- Communicating with parents and students
- Sponsoring and participating in discussion groups
- Storing information in electronic files
- Distributing e | forms
- Creating and administering surveys
- Supplementing classroom instruction
- Organizing web reference lists
- Conducting virtual class sessions
- Submisson of forms, documents, and assignments electronically
- Creating task lists
- Communicating via announcements
- Creating a community
Standalone Blackboard™ workshop are offered by the Instructional Technology Department listed in MyLearningPlan. Blackboard™ is also embedded in the STEPs class, "Taking Your Class to the Web."
