Intel Teach Program
Intel Teach Essentials Course
Wichita Public Schools is the only district in the State of Kansas to sponsor its own Intel Teach to the Future Master Teacher training program. As of Spring 2004, the Wichita School District has trained 36 master teachers. In turn, these teachers have trained and will continue to train other teachers in the district. The Intel Teach to the Future program is a 40 hour training that is designed to give teachers the skills they need to effectively integrate technology into their classrooms.
As teachers progress through the ten training modules included in this program,
they have the opportunity to collaborate with other teachers and discuss ideas
for introducing and using technology in their classrooms.
They also have the opportunity to develop a standards based unit based either
upon material they are currently teaching or material they would like to teach
in the future. The goal in the end is for teachers to have a technology product
they can take back to their school, one that allows them to raise the level of
excellence in their classroom and meet important learning objectives.
Participant classes are held on many different evenings during the week as well as during the summer. Check MLP to find upcoming classes.
Intel Teach Thinking with Technology Course
The Intel Teach Thinking with Technology Course offers teachers with intermediate-level technology integration skills (Essentials Course or equivalent competency) an opportunity to enhance these skills and promote higher-order thinking. This 40 hour modular course provides face-to-face, hands-on experiences with online thinking tools that engage students and help them to communicate their understanding of complex concepts. Each tool features an online workspace where students create and save visual representations of their thinking.
A participant class is being held the first and second week of June, go to MLP and sign up for it. See the links below for more information about the course.
